I am a child of the 1980s. If you are like me, then you well remember a little film about an alien from outer-space named E.T. – The Extra Terrestrial, and the culture phenomenon brought on by Stephen Spielberg’s masterpiece. If you haven’t seen the movie, paraphrasing Wikipedia:

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is a 1982 American science fiction film. It tells the story of Elliott, a boy who befriends an extraterrestrial, dubbed “E.T.”, who is stranded on Earth. Elliott and his siblings help E.T. return to his home planet, while attempting to keep him hidden from the government.

One of the first examples of product placement in a motion picture, Elliot at one point can be seen trying to lure E.T. with the delicious peanut butter candy’s manufactured by Hershey, Reese’s Pieces. Personally, I really enjoy the small orange, yellow and brown candies. I enjoyed some this morning, which gave me the idea for this piece. Review the articles below to learn more. Yum!!
